How do we do that? New Home

Set to open in September 2025, our new home will be on 12 Cambridge Gardens. This new building offers a historic venue with airy, light-filled rooms and an outdoor paradise for play and education, including a playground, forest school area, and communal gardens, all within walking proximity to parks and libraries.

Diversity learning is in full swing at @lapetitenurserylondon ! 🦄

This week, our wonderful chef Veronica introduced the children to her home country, Romania. She shared the children with tales of snowy winters and a special Sunday traditions. Children had so much fun topping Romenian doughnuts called Miciunele with cinnamon!

Through this activity, the children discovered how tradition bring people together! An experience that combined sensory exploration with cultural learning will prepare children for life with a spark of curiosity and appreciation for the unique world around them.

Our lunch time is as nutritious as it is tasty with our new autumn menu! 🍂🍁

Naomi Szakacs, our in-house nutritionist, has worked alongside our chefs to create delicious, healthy recipes that foster lifelong healthy eating habits.

We believe that a great meal is a cornerstone of a great day at nursery. Our vision is to prepare children for life, and this includes active and healthy eating habits.

📄 Featured Recipe: Haddock Tagine with Peppers, Butternut, Coriander & Tomato Served with Quinoa and Green Beans

✏️ Ingredients for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children):
500g butternut squash, peeled and cubed
1 medium onion, sliced (or 1 large onion)
2 long red peppers, sliced
1 tin plum tomatoes
1 tin coconut milk
1 L water
500 g skinned and chopped haddock
Corn flour (for thickening, if desired)
Optional for serving: Fresh coriander

Curry Paste:
1 medium onion
2 to 3 cloves garlic (or about 2 to 3 teaspoons minced)
1 to 2 teaspoons minced ginger (adjust to taste)
1 bunch coriander stalks
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 preserved lemon
3 teaspoons mild curry powder
1 teaspoon turmeric and paprika
Pinch of pepper and salt
4 tablespoons olive oil

👩‍🍳 Method:
Curry Paste: In a food processor, blend the onion, garlic, ginger, coriander stalks, brown sugar, preserved lemon, mild curry powder, turmeric, paprika, salt, and olive oil until smooth.
Reserve half of the curry paste for future use, label it, and freeze (it can be used within a month).
Heat olive oil in a large pot over low/medium heat. Pour in the curry paste and stir constantly until it cooks out moisture and begins to brown slightly.
Add the plum tomatoes, water, butternut squash, and red peppers. Cook for about 30–40 minutes on medium heat until thickened and the butternut is tender.
About 10 minutes before serving, add the haddock and simmer on low. If you want to thicken the sauce, mix a bit of corn flour with water and stir in. Finish with freshly chopped coriander just before serving.

Celebrating Sukkot with our community 🍋🌿

We had a meaningful Sukkot celebration at Lauderdale Road Synagogue, where our children learned about the mitzvot of the holiday. Led by Morah Orah, they learned about the Four Species—lulav, etrog, hadas, and aravah— using all of their senses!

They also learned the importance of ‘Hachnasat Orchim’ in welcoming guests into the sukkah. This enriching event provided a wonderful opportunity to foster kindness and generosity while strengthening our connections within the community.

Our teachers participated in a dynamic training session focused on improving relationships with parents and maximising communication opportunities.

This workshop centered around practical scenarios, such as pick-up and drop-off interactions, verbal or written feedback and even displays.

Teachers engaged in role-playing exercises to simulate real-life situations. Participants payed close attention to body language, the exchange of information, and the positive relationships modelling. The goal was to explore effective communication strategies and to reflect on how these interactions impact our relationships with families.

The session allowed teachers to gain hands-on experience and immediate feedback. By discussing and reflecting on each scenario, we were able to identify best practices and areas for improvement, enhancing our ability to foster strong, supportive relationships with the families we work with.

Early and effective communication builds trust and helps to smooth the transition for both children and families, making the settling-in period more manageable.

This training reinforces our commitment to creating a welcoming environment. Establishing long-lasting positive relationships is a key priority for the La Petite Nursery Team.

This week, our little stars had an out-of-this-world experience learning about space! Through an immersive adventure, children “visited” NASA Space Camp, watched a space rocket blasting off and crossing the atmosphere, then traveled through space.🚀🪐🛰️

Throughout the space travel, our curious learners showed incredible knowledge as they recognised the names and unique features of the stars in our solar system.

Fun Fact: You might think the Sun is the hottest planet in our solar system, but it’s actually Venus, with surface temperatures around 900 degrees Fahrenheit (475 degrees Celsius)! 🔥

They also had a unique opportunity to learn from real astronauts what it’s like to live in a no-gravity zone. 👩‍🚀✨

What an incredible journey we’ve had this year at La Petite Nursery! 🎉

From autumn to summer, we celebrated a fantastic year at La Petite Nursery with an unforgettable end-of-year party! 🥳 🎈
Our teachers, children, and their families gathered to celebrate a fantastic year of learning, growth, and fun!

This time we went on a colourful journey through the seasons:

🌸 The blooming green of spring
☀️ The vibrant red warmth of summer

🌈 Together, we crafted a stunning rainbow, each color representing the unique experiences and joy we discovered throughout the year.

🎁📒 Every family received a beautifully crafted booklet, filled with the children’s artwork and projects from throughout the year. These booklets are a testament to all the hard work and fun we’ve had together and will forever be a memory treasure.

@lapetitenurserylondon has been buzzing with excitement over our chick hatching project! 🐥

The journey began with the children observing the eggs in an incubator and culminated in the magical moment of watching the chicks hatch.

The children embraced the responsibility of caring for the chicks, ensuring they had water and food, and even named them: Bigfoot, Chita-Carlos, Solé, Milk-chocolate, and Snow-white.💛

Through this project, the children learned valuable life skills such as responsibility, empathy, and patience. They developed an understanding of the life cycle and the importance of nurturing living creatures, while growing their love for nature and wildlife.

Chef Veronica, Chef Daniela, and our in-house nutritionist, Naomi Szakacs, have crafted delicious, nutritious dishes to delight our children and support their healthy growth.

Menu Highlights:

🍎 Fresh Ingredients: Minimising additives and processed foods.
🥕 Seasonal Produce: Top-quality, nutrient-packed fruits and veggies.

🥗 Healthy Snacks: Homemade granola, yogurt, and fresh fruits and veggies.

Children from Naima’s Year 3 joined forces with La Petite preschoolers at the Lauderdale Road Synagogue for a collective pizza workshop and a holistic lesson about wheat and flour.

What did we do?
• We had a hands-on experience with kosher food traditions for Shavuot.
• Children worked together to prepare pizza dough and then made mini personalized pizzas by adding the toppings of their choice.
• We sang traditional songs with a guitar player while waiting for the pizzas to cook.

The children learned about the importance of healthy eating and the process of making food from scratch while experiencing the joy of community and the value of teamwork.

It was incredible to see how little hands are building strong community relationships. 🍕🎶

We had an incredible Father’s Day celebration at @lapetitenurserylondon! 🎉

The day was filled with joyful songs, delicious challah and kiddish as dads joined us for our traditional Kabbalah Shabbat ! ✡️

The highlight of the day was when the children presented their dads with a little surprise gift, made with so much love and care. 🎁

With white tops and flower crowns adorning their heads, our children enjoyed a festive lunch, with pizza 🍕 cheesecake 🍰 and vibrant fruit salad 🍓🍍🥭 they’ve made themselves!

Through these cherished moments, our children learned the beautiful story of Mount Sinai and the 10 Commandments. 📃✡️ Around a beautifully set lunch table, we shared stories and songs, weaving together past and present. 🎶

@lapetitenurseryuk’s first sports day was a great success!

Children competed in a variety of fun activities, including:
🥚 Egg and spoon race
🏃 Relay race
🎯 Obstacle course
🏅And many more surprises!
Each team rotated through 6 exciting stations, showing off their skills and teamwork. We finished our big day enjoying a picnic lunch at the park.

We were thrilled to have parents and siblings join us on this special day and witness the incredible progress their children have made during our Healthy Lifestyle month.

Our aim was to build relationships and foster teamwork, perfectly aligning with our monthly topic of promoting a healthy lifestyle. It was beautiful to see everyone supporting each other. Your involvement made the day even more special!

Despite the typical London weather, we enjoyed every minute! Thank you to everyone who made this day unforgettable!
